In my travels through cities, I think the best part is its street artists.
Downtown Barcelona is where we found Minimal Acoustic Band that drew quite a crowd.

I had a dickens of a time trying to get close to this group and was lucky enough to get a video and shoot some photos.
Later I had a chance to speak with Artur, a Catalan, who was kind enough to give me their web site address.
I was sort of disappointed that their site didn’t have more information on the musicians. Hopefully they will update their page with more stuff.
For anyone interested here it is:

Sometimes, the crowd is more entertaining than the entertainer.

After some time I finally managed to see the musician.-)
ReplyDeleteJust joking. Now seriously, these photos are more and more colorful, more impressive. Street artists seem obvious sometimes for Barcelonians but visitors really enjoy watching their art thus the importance of this work in the promotion of our beautiful city.
October 2007: MAB is still in the streets of Barcelona and giving an impressive performance.
ReplyDeleteA pity that they have only two CD´s available, though their street performance seems to me better than their CD´s.
MAB is definitely giving BCN ´couleur locale´.
Interesting blog! Barcelona is one of my favourite cities as well.
ReplyDeleteI remember listening to - no experiencing - Minimal Acoustic Band in the summer of 2006 and was very impressed. Very nice mix of analog and digital!
I can't understand why they are not promoting themselves better (read: use the torrentsites etc) to get a global crowd of fans, because they truly have potential.
Cheers from Sweden and the Pirate Party!
Thomas,
ReplyDeleteI fully agree with you that the band has not promoted themselves more agressively because as you say they certainly "have potential".
Anyway, thanks for stopping by and commenting.
